Fertility Assessment & Testing in Lahore

A fertility assessment is a structured evaluation, usually a consultation plus relevant tests, that builds a clear picture of your fertility and guides your next steps. At Elysian Fertility in Gulberg 2, Lahore, your assessment is led by Dr. Javaria Siraj, Reproductive Consultant and IVF Specialist, and where relevant it includes your partner.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Javaria Siraj (MBBS, FCPS; fellowship training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi).

    What is a fertility assessment?

A fertility assessment is a structured evaluation designed to build a clear picture of your fertility. It combines a detailed consultation with a set of investigations, and where relevant it considers both partners.

The assessment is the foundation of personalised care. Understanding your situation is the first step towards discussing which options, if any, may be appropriate for you, whether that is monitoring, medication, IUI, IVF or ICSI. Many people find that the assessment brings clarity and reassurance, even before any treatment decision.

Who may benefit from a fertility assessment?

An assessment may help if you:

    • Have been trying to conceive without success
    • Have irregular or missed periods, or concerns about ovulation
    • Have a known or suspected condition such as PCOS or endometriosis
    • Want to understand your fertility before planning ahead
    • Are a male partner with concerns about male fertility

When should you see a fertility specialist?

General guidance is to seek advice after around a year of trying to conceive. If you are over 35, or have a known condition that can affect fertility, seeing a specialist after about six months is sensible. If you are unsure, a first consultation helps clarify where you stand, and it does not commit you to treatment.

What does a fertility assessment include?

Your plan is always personalised, and not everyone needs every test.

    Part of the assessment

    What it shows

    Consultation

Your history, menstrual cycle, general health and goals, and which tests make sense.

    Hormone blood tests

Hormone levels linked to ovulation and egg reserve, including AMH.

    Transvaginal ultrasound (TVS)

A close view of the uterus and ovaries, including the uterine lining and follicles.

    Semen analysis

Sperm count, movement and shape for the male partner.

    Fallopian tube assessment (where indicated)

Whether the tubes are open, which matters for treatments such as IUI.

    Consultation

a detailed, unhurried discussion of your history, cycle, general health and what you hope to achieve.

    Investigations

relevant tests are arranged, which may include hormone blood tests, a TVS and a semen analysis. Some tests depend on the day of your cycle, and the clinic advises on timing.

    Reviewing Results

your results are explained clearly and put into the context of your individual situation, in plain language.

    Personalised Plan

together you discuss the findings and consider which options, if any, may be right for you.

What is a TVS (transvaginal ultrasound)?

A transvaginal ultrasound, or TVS, is a scan in which a slim probe is placed gently in the vagina to give a close, clear view of the uterus and ovaries. In fertility care it is used to check the uterine lining, count ovarian follicles and monitor follicle growth during treatment. See also follicular monitoring.

Is a TV ultrasound painful or safe?

A TV ultrasound is safe and usually brief. Most women feel mild pressure or slight discomfort, not pain. Tell the sonographer if you feel uncomfortable, and they can adjust.

    What is the AMH test?

AMH (anti-Müllerian hormone) is a blood test that gives an estimate of your remaining egg supply, known as ovarian reserve. It helps plan treatment, but it does not by itself predict whether you will conceive naturally. Dr. Javaria interprets your AMH alongside your age, cycle and other results.

How to prepare for a semen analysis in Lahore

A semen analysis checks sperm count, movement and shape. To prepare:

    • Abstain from ejaculation for 2 to 5 days before the test.
    • Use a sterile container and avoid lubricants on the sample.
    • Deliver the fresh sample to the lab promptly, within the time advised, which is usually under an hour.

A single result is not always the full picture, and your doctor may suggest repeating the test.

What the results can and cannot tell you

Results help identify factors that may be affecting fertility, such as ovulation problems, sperm quality, blocked tubes or conditions like PCOS and endometriosis. They do not predict with certainty whether you will conceive, and no single test decides your outcome. Sometimes no clear cause is found, which is called unexplained infertility. Dr. Javaria explains what your results mean for you and what options may be sensible.

What happens at your first visit?

Your first consultation is a relaxed, confidential conversation with plenty of time for questions. Bring any earlier test reports, ultrasound scans or semen analysis results. They help, but they are not required. Partners are welcome, and you may also come alone for a first visit.

    Fertility assessment cost in Lahore

The cost depends on which tests are needed, so we do not publish a single fixed price. After your consultation, Dr. Javaria explains which investigations are worthwhile and gives you a clear estimate before they are arranged. Book a consultation to start.

A consultation plus relevant investigations that show what may be affecting your fertility.

Couples or individuals trying to conceive without success, people with irregular cycles, a known or suspected condition such as PCOS or endometriosis, or anyone who wants to understand their fertility before planning ahead.

Blood tests and a semen sample are simple. A TVS may cause mild pressure but is not usually painful.

No. You can book a first consultation directly.

Where relevant, yes. Fertility depends on both partners, so the assessment considers both.
